some of our projects and experience

The Planning Lab advises Borough Market on development projects across its 4.5 acre historic estate of 110 traders, 20 restaurants and shops. We also advise Greenwich Hospital Estates set within the WHS.

We have secured permissions on behalf of the Courtauld Institute of Art on the major works across the northern block of the Grade I listed Somerset House. We have also delivered several permissions for Somerset House Trust

We act for Royal College of Art on the 17,000m2 redevelopment of the Battersea South Campus, working alongside Herzog & de Meuron.

We are Tate's retained planning advisors and have worked on all five of its galleries and storage facilities. This includes securing two major permissions for its 25,000m2 extension to Tate Modern, and the refurbishment of the Grade II* Tate Britain. We have advised on the masterplan for the Queen Alexandra Military Hospital Site; extensions to Tate St Ives; and the creation of the National Arts Collection Centre at Tate Stores off Old Kent Road.

We advised on the masterplan and negotiated listed building and planning consents for the refurbishment of Imperial War Museums London for the first two major phases of works. We have also secured permission for IWMs new office HQ, alongside consents for Churchill War Rooms in Westminster, Imperial War Museum Duxford and HMS Belfast on the River Thames.

Other major cultural organisations we are currently working with include: National Trust (advising on the Grade I listed Clandon Park House); and projects for British MuseumRoyal Opera House; Royal Institute; Rich Mix; Cockpit Arts and Portsmouth Cultural Trust.

We are also advising a number of commercial clients including: St Edward; Investec; and Raycliff (on the Whitechapel Bell Foundry); as well as many other individuals and owners of historic estates and properties.

We have worked with Government departments on projects including the Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal project and options for the QEII Conference Centre; and on ecclesiastical buildings including Westminster Abbey. We were on the Steering Group and co-wrote the best practice guidance for Historic England | RICS | BPF, entitled Heritage Works, a Toolkit for Regeneration.
